Izabella Tunis-Notley is a Speech Pathologist who is passionate about using engaging and creative ways to support children’s communication.
Izabella graduated from Flinders University with a High Distinction average in a Bachelor of Speech Pathology. She is also a member of Speech Pathology Australia and certified in Hanen early language intervention, Key Word Sign, and the Lidcombe Program for fluency support. Izabella is also trained in SOS Approach to Feeding therapy.
Izabella has a background in the Department for Education and Child Development and has worked with children with complex communication needs all the way from rural Australia to a Special School in India.
Izabella recognises that communication is possible for children in many different ways and has a strong passion for Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC). She has training and experience in using Key Word Sign, PODD, PECS, as well as Ipad Communication Apps. Izabella is inspired by the saying by Einstein, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it isn’t good enough”. She is frequently amazed at how children can communicate when given the right support and tools from those around them.
When Izabella is out of the practice, you can commonly find her sitting at a piano writing songs or searching for her ever-escaping sausage dog.
Izabella’s little clients are reported to often ask their parents ‘When can I next go to speech?’ as she creates a fun and supportive environment for learning.
